Word!  Alive in the Arts: An evening of kinetic engagement and collective expression

  • When:   Thursday, November 8 (7pm-10pm*)
  • Where:  Delurk Gallery (207 W 6th Street)
  • What: $10 admission includes all of the evening's performances, activities, and appetizers/drinks (must be at least 21yrs old)
  • What else: *Interactive performances @ 8pm & 9pm
  • Who:  Young adults...20's and 30's for a unique evening out where you are invited to become the artists/authors in an array of participatory art forms...
  • Why: Benefiting the teen authors of Authoring Action! Learn how you might support a powerful group of teen authors!


First Friday Gallery Hop

  • What: An event sponsored all year 'round by the Downtown Art District Association (DADA).  The streets in the Downtown Art District are blocked off, and shops and galleries schedule special evening hours, hosting exhibit openings, artists' receptions, art and craft demonstrations. Other activities around the art district include oriental dance performances, information tables, musical acts, street performances by area theater groups, food and snack vendors, and more.
  • When:  First Friday of every month, 7-10 pm.
  • Where: The Downtown Art District: 500 and 600 blocks of North Trade Street, the 200 block of West 6th Street, and the 500 block of Liberty Street.
  • Who Goes There: You and your best friend, partner, spouse, the kids.
  • What Else to Bring: Your cash, credit or debit card, umbrella as needed.
  • Why: It's a great way to immerse yourself in visual and performing arts, enjoy new exhibitions, meet and talk to artists and gallery owners, see and be seen, shop local, buy local, and show your support of your local arts community in this City of Arts and Innovation.

 

Summer on Trade Music Series

  • What: An annual, summer-long event presented by the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership and made possible by numerous corporate sponsors.
  • When: Saturdays, 7-10 pm, during the months of June, July, and August
  • Where: The intersection of 6th and Trade Streets, in the Downtown Arts District.
  • Who and What to Bring with You: You, your alter ego, your family, kids, and the dog; recommended: portable chair.
  • Why You Want to Go: Because it's FREE LIVE MUSIC by some of the area's finest musical acts.

Arts on Sunday Festivals

  • What:  A series of afternoon art fairs held on Sundays in May and October,  sponsored by the AFAS (Art for Art's Sake) Group.
  • When: Every Sunday in May, 1-5 pm; and Every Sunday in October, 1-5 pm.

  • Where: 500-600 blocks of Trade Street, and the 200 block of 6th Street.
  • Who Goes There:  Everybody. 
  • What to Bring:  cash and/or debit card; optional: camera
  • Why: A great day for the entire family, starting with Sunday Brunch at Finnigan's Wake or 6th and Vine Restaurant; then spending the afternoon strolling through Trade Street that's lined with artists and craftspeople, shopping at the various shops and galleries that are open; enjoying some music, street performances, art and craft demonstrations; watching  kids create; walking the dogs....

  • What: 5th annual city-wide arts celebration presented by The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County

Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair

  • What:  49th annual crafts fair.  Quality craftsmanship and excellent design have always been the hallmarks of Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair. Held annually since 1963 by Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc., the fair showcases the handwork of more than 130 fine artisans from across the southeast in a setting that allows shoppers to meet the crafts people, talk to them about their work, and view demonstrations of craft techniques.
  • When:  November 17-18, 2012
    Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm Sunday, Noon – 5 pm
  • Where:  M.C. Benton Convention Center in Downtown Winston-Salem
