First Friday Gallery Hops
Sponsored
by DADA, the Downtown Arts District Association. This is a year 'round
event, scheduled for the first Friday of every month. Streets in the
Arts District are blocked off at Trade Street, between 5th and 7th
Streets: 6th Street, between Cherry and Liberty Streets; and portions of
Liberty Street north of 5th Street. Shops and galleries are open for
the event from 7 to 10 pm. At every Gallery Hop you'll find new shows,
artist receptions, performances, art and craft demonstrations, and kids'
activities. As the weather improves, you'll be treated to outdoor
performances such as belly dancing, theater, music, and craft
demonstrations. And it's all FREE!www.dadaws.org
Arts on Sunday Series
We look forward to these art fairs which are held every Sunday in May and again in October. This
Afas Group event takes place along the 500 and 600 blocks of Trade
Street and the adjacent 200 block of 6th Street. Each Sunday event has a
theme, with music, street performances, demonstrations, and kids'
activities planned accordingly. Artists and craftsmen display their
creations up and down the street. Many of the shops and galleries are
open during the event, which runs from 1 till 5 pm in the afternoon.
Many people come out early to enjoy Sunday brunch at one of the fine
restaurants in the neighborhood, then stay for a fun afternoon
encompassing the best that the Arts District has to offer. This year's
May series will be announced soon.
